Cleaning Your Car’s Leather Upholstery

Leather upholstery for its supple, luxurious feel. When cleaning your leather it is important to use supplies that will protect and condition it as well as clean it. If you are using a store-bought or commercial cleaner or conditioner we recommend that you look for one that is made with natural ingredients and free of toxins. If you are opting for a DIY solution, try mixing two parts vinegar and one part water. Always spot test your cleaner on a part of your interior that is not easily visible, like the bottom of a seat.

Before you begin cleaning, you need to thoroughly vacuum your interior first to remove anything that might scratch or damage the leather during the cleaning. Now dampen a soft, microfiber cloth with your cleaning solution. Never spray a cleaner directly onto your leather. To prevent discoloration, use a circular rubbing motion and work in one small section at a time. Do not allow the solution to dry on the leather. Instead, make sure to completely rub it in.

Leather seats should be cleaned once a month and we recommend that you condition your leather three times a year.

Cloth Auto Upholstery Cleaning Tips

Cloth interior may not be considered as luxurious as its leather counterpart, but it still deserves proper care and attention. Just like when cleaning leather, it is recommended that you start with a thorough vacuuming. There are many upholstery cleaning solutions on the market. Whichever you choose remember to spot test.

Dampen a soft cleaning cloth with your cleaning solution and lightly clean your seats, paying special attention to any stains. If your seats are particularly dirty, a steam cleaner is great for deep cleaning cloth upholstery.

With as much time as you spend in your car, you want to feel comfortable and proud knowing that your interior looks as beautiful as the day you bought. With regular cleaning and proper maintenance, your seats will look flawless for years to come.
